Dear Members of the Rehabilitation Family in general and physiotherapy in particular, welcome to the World Physiotherapy Africa Region Congress 2024.
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to this great scientific and festive event which combines the biennial congress of the region and the centenary of the South Africa Society of Physiotherapy. Please turn out in large numbers so that together we can discuss how to advance rehabilitation in general and physiotherapy in particular in Africa. Let us come together under the palaver tree, as in our African traditions, to share our experiences and find solutions adapted to our African contexts.

Welcome from the SASP President
Welcome to the South African Society of Physiotherapy Congress 2024. We invite you to join us in celebrating 100 years of Physiotherapy in South Africa as well as a century of supporting our profession through our society. The conference takes place at the Cape Town Convention Centre, in the heart of Cape Town, known for its beauty and rich history blended with many modern offerings.
In celebration, we will host the biennial World Africa Region congress in conjunction with the local congress. We welcome colleagues and friends from around the continent to share in this auspicious occasion.

Welcome from the Congress Organising Committee
It is my pleasure, as the chairperson of the Congress Organising Committee, to invite you to the centenary congress in 2024. Not only will we celebrate 100 years of existence of the physiotherapy profession but also the existence of the SASP as the first Professional Organisations looking after the profession, and achievements over the years.
To add to this special occasion, the congress will be hosted on behalf of World Physiotherapy Africa Region to add an African flair to the congress.
Cape Town is a wonderful tourism destination. You are invited to bring your family and extend your stay beyond the congress to enjoy the hospitality of the Western Cape, the rest of South Africa and even Africa to make 2024 your best year ever!
