Esther Munalula Nkandu

Prof Esther Munalula Nkandu, is a former Zambian Ambassador to Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, and the European Union. Prior to her appointment, she served as founder Dean of the School of Health Sciences in the University of Zambia (UNZA) which houses Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences and Radiography. Still under the UNZA, she has served as a Senator on which she has represented the School of Medicine and later School of Health Sciences. Prof Munalula Nkandu is a Physiotherapist and a Bioethicist. She has served as founder Head of the Department of Physiotherapy in the University of Zambia (UNZA), School of Medicine from 2000-2013. As a Physiotherapist she has presided over the Zambian Society of Physiotherapy, as well as chaired the World Confederation for Physical Therapy- (WCPT),  Africa Region. She has also served as Board Member on WCPT on which she represented Africa Region. As a Bioethicist she has chaired the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee, served as Vice Chair of the Natural Sciences Research Ethics Committee under UNZA and chaired ERES Converge, a private IRB. Outside the University of Zambia, she has served as Vice Chair of the Medical Council of Zambia now Health Professions Council of Zambia, Chaired the Road Transport and Safety Agency and the Radiation Protection Authority. She is Fellow of the Institute of Directors of Zambia (IoDZ) and has also Presided over IoDZ. She is a trained trainer in Corporate Governance and is also a Fellow of the Governance Institute – (former ICSA) in London.


Sarah Wright

Sarah Wright is a Physiotherapist Consultant at Queensland Children’s Hospital, Brisbane and worked in the paediatric cardiorespiratory field for over 27yrs, primarily in the UK and Australia. She is lead author for the chapter “Physical therapies in pediatric respiratory disease” in the 9th & 10th edition of Disorders of the Respiratory Tract in Children, developed multiple online learning packages and leading the use of simulation in paediatric acute physiotherapy. Her established reputation has resulted in numerous invitations to speak worldwide in the specialist areas of paediatric respiratory care including neuromuscular disorders and critical care as well as simulated learning. She is co-chair for WFPICCS (World Federation of Paediatric Intensive and Critical Care Society) International scientific & education committees.
