Biography
Sandra Kwarteng Owusu is a Paediatric Pulmonologist and a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Child Health, School of Medical Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi Ghana. She is also a Senior Specialist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. Sandra established the first Paediatric Pulmonology service at the (KATH) after her training in Cape Town South Africa. She has established a multi-disciplinary paediatric respiratory team.
Her research work is focused on lung health conditions in childhood such as; asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis, HIV, and sickle cell disease. She also works on air pollution and its impact on lung health. Sandra is an ordinary executive member of the Pan African Thoracic Society and a member of the Ghana Thoracic Society.She worked closely with the society to develop the National Asthma Guideline for Ghana. She is collaborating with the Pan African Thoracic Society in the ongoing multicenter study- Chronic Respiratory Disease Observatory (CHEST AFRICA study)

Biography
Marco Zampoli completed his paediatric pulmonology training in South Africa where he currently holds the position of Associate Professor in Paediatrics at the University of Cape Town. Prof. Zampoli is head of the paediatric cystic fibrosis(CF)clinic at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. He completed his PhD on various aspects of CF epidemiology in South Africa and Africa. His other research and clinical interests include primary ciliary dyskinesia, pleural effusions, sleep medicine and long-term home ventilation.
